Jesus Changes Everything
with the good news that real life is possible by the forgiveness of sins.
Who is Jesus?
Jesus is the Son of God, the Savior of the world, who lived a real human life without sin. Jesus reveals what God is like, and is God with us. He is the promised King, the Savior, and the only true way home to the Father.
God made us to be with Him, but we have all sinned and turned from Him. Sin brings guilt, bondage, and death. We can not possibly save ourselves from sin, no matter how good we think we are or how much good we do. The good news is that God has acted to save sinners by sending His son, Jesus, to die on the cross in our place. Jesus lived a sinless life but carried our sins on the cross, taking onto Himself the judgement and punishment meant for us. Jesus paid what we could never repay. Then, Jesus rose again in victory, defeating death and bringing with Him newness of life for all who believe in Him.
What is the good news of Jesus?
What does this mean for me?
You can be FORGIVEN! Because Jesus is alive, you can be forgiven, made new, and brought into peace with God, by receiving the good news of Jesus as a gift. The response Jesus calls for is simple: repent and believe. Repent means turning from sin and self-rule to God, and believe means trusting Jesus as Savior and following Him as Lord. If you’re ready, call on Him honestly. He welcomes sinners who come to Him.
If you’re ready to respond to Jesus, speak to Him in prayer. Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved, and God does not turn away those who come to Him. God is not looking for perfect words, He welcomes honest faith. The prayer does not save you (Jesus’ death and resurrection do), but you can pray something like this:
Jesus, I need You. I have sinned against God and I cannot fix myself. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and I trust You as my Savior and Lord. Forgive me, make me new, and lead my life from this day forward. Amen.
Start with the Bible. Read the Gospel of John to meet Jesus, then Ephesians to understand grace and new life. Aim for a little every day.
Spend time with God in prayer. Talk to God in your own words. A good starting rhythm is: thank Him, confess sin, ask for help, and pray for others. If you want to read more on prayer, read Matthew 6:9–13.
Be baptized as a believer. Everyone who repents of their sins and trusts in Jesus Christ alone for salvation is called to undergo the waters of baptism. It is a holy sacrament of the church, alongside communion. If you are interested in baptism, please talk to one of our leaders before or after a Sunday service. We would love to help you take this step!
Join a local church family and a group. Church is a community of baptized believers who are committed to living the Christian life together. There is no such thing as a solo believer, every believer is united to Christ and belongs to His body, both local and universal.
Share the Gospel of Jesus with others. Start with the people closest to you. Tell them what Jesus has done, invite questions, and trust God with the results.
